Who Is Bernard
I’m a systems thinker, builder, and storyteller who’s spent the past 35 years helping people and organizations navigate meaningful change. My journey began with a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology, along with an M.A. and M.B.A., grounding me in both the human and strategic dimensions of transformation. Over the years, I’ve led large-scale initiatives in some of the country’s most respected organizations—as a consultant, an executive, and a change strategist.
Early in my career, I published a paper in Environment and Behavior on the psychology of space habitats. That sparked a lifelong curiosity: how do our environments—physical, emotional, social—influence human energy? And how do we design those environments to help us live and lead more intentionally?
I’ve spent decades exploring those questions across disciplines—consulting in innovation and transformation at firms like Deloitte and CapGemini, later serving as VP of Consumer Lending and Transformation at a major financial institution. I’ve also authored three books and numerous articles on change, leadership, and the unseen forces that shape us.
That inquiry eventually led to the Human Energy Resonance Model—a way of understanding how emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual energies flow through time, influence our interactions, and are shaped by the environments we live in. It’s not a belief system; it’s a lens to help us notice, realign, and change what matters.
I’m also a builder—of ideas, of tools, of actual spaces. My concept of ExperienceZones invites people to design environments based on the kind of energy they want to cultivate, whether in a home, a team, or a community
My work has always blended theory and practice. I’ve earned certifications in Aging in Place, Healthy Aging, Gerontology, Big Data, AI, and FinTech. I also studied design and ecological thinking at the San Francisco Institute of Architecture. And I’ve been building and remodeling spaces—homes, tools, systems—for as long as I can remember.
EnergyWithin is where all of this comes together. It’s my way of sharing stories, tools, and frameworks that help people align their inner lives with the environments around them—and in doing so, transform what’s possible.
Let’s talk.
